Terracotta figure on Silent Mode navy is the primary treatment (iron-oxide red on vase-black, the way Greek potters painted it); the variants below are palette alternatives for ivory, mono and gold grounds.
Five accent treatments of the same silhouette. Pick by ground, not by mood.
The thread as its own mark — a glowing wound ball. Use it where the resolver is being named directly (installer icons, service badges, docs headers, the hero on ariadne.x/thread). Dense reads as a bright sphere at distance; calm reads as individually wound threads up close.
The Greek key — the labyrinth wall straightened into a repeating band. Same shape as the thread, folded on itself. Use it as a section divider, a frame around the mark, trim on printed matter, or the footer stripe on ariadne.x. One tile repeats every 60 px; scale the tile, never the stroke.
When you have room for a wordmark, use one of these — never redraw. Georgia is the wordmark type; the ivory "Ariadne" pairs with a gold ".x" suffix.
Six brand colours, all live in the site's :root. Use these tokens rather than raw hex when you can.
Georgia — 500 weight. Serif, for the wordmark, page headlines and section headers. Suits the classical reference; bundled on every OS.
system-ui / -apple-system / Segoe UI / Roboto. System sans, for body text, controls, code labels. Nothing to bundle; matches whatever platform reads it.
ui-monospace. For code, hashes, addresses. Backed by the OS's own console font.
The mark needs breathing room. Reserve at least 1/12 of the mark's own width as clear space on every side — nothing touches, nothing crops the wreath.
The mark is designed to read from a 24-dp chip to a 512-dp Play Store icon.
· Don't redraw or retrace the mark. It's a hand-traced silhouette. Retracing changes the character.
· Preserve the ambient glow only against the navy background. On light backgrounds, use the flat or dark-on-cream variants.
· Never crop below the shoulders. The bust silhouette is the recognisable shape.
· Never place text over the mark. Use a lock-up if you need mark + text together.
· "Ariadne" is a project name, not a company. Editorial form is "Ariadne Navigator". Domain form is "Ariadne.x". Never write "Ariadne™" or "©".
· Don't imply endorsement. If you're building on top of Ariadne, say "compatible with Ariadne" or "uses Ariadne resolver", not "an Ariadne product".
