Gate (GT)

Gate is a token. It has no blockchain of its own and no consensus of its own — it rents both from the chain it is issued on, which is why it is listed separately from the cryptocurrencies.

Gate's GT page shows 270M of the 300M cap issued by Gate itself and a 30M pool paid out over time as GateChain staking rewards. Tokenomics.com instead lists a 20% mining pool.

GT launched 8-15 April 2019 through a Gate 'Points' issuance that reportedly raised $64M from Gate users. No ICO, private sale or institutional investors (per GateChain and tokenomics.com). Initial issuance was 1B GT, 700M of which were later burned.

Supply is capped at 300M. Gate's GT page shows burned + circulating + frozen = 300M, and a fixed 30M GateChain staking-reward pool (8.7M paid out). Only burns are scheduled.

The share of supply that went out through the paid Points issuance is not established, so soldPct and publicLaunchPct are null. The allocation table comes from an aggregator; Gate publishes no allocation table. The mining pool is 20% per the aggregator and 10% per Gate.

Where it lives

It is issued on one chain. Linked names are chains that are themselves cryptocurrencies with a page here.

Why it is not in the asset count

CoinSpectrum counts an asset once. A token has neither its own blockchain nor its own consensus mechanism, so it fails both of the site's two conditions — it is a thing issued on a chain, and the chain is what is counted. The methodology states the rule, and the argument for it is set out in full.

Listed, not hidden. The point is that it is measured as what it is.
