CoinSpectrum publishes data and arguments about cryptocurrencies so that readers can check them. These terms say what the site offers, what it does not promise, and how its data may be reused. Using the site means accepting them.
Updated 26 October 2026.
Nothing on the site is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset. Rankings, grades, scores, top lists and articles describe assets and venues; they do not take any reader's circumstances into account. Crypto assets can lose all of their value. Decisions about money belong to the reader, who should check the figures, compare them with other sources and trust what holds up.
The CoinSpectrum Grade and the exchange score are measurements against a published method. They are not credit ratings, audits, certifications or probabilities of failure. The method is versioned and dated, every criterion is published in the API, and any grade can be recomputed from it. A high grade does not make an asset safe, and a low one does not mean it will fail. Proof-of-reserves checks are evidence about assets held, not about solvency.
Prices, volumes, supplies and network figures come from exchanges, block explorers and data providers, cross-checked where possible and cited on the page. They can be late, incomplete or wrong, and venues can stop reporting without notice. The site is provided as is, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness or availability, and CoinSpectrum is not liable for losses from relying on it. Errors that are reported are corrected (see the editorial policy).
A place in the cryptocurrency ranking is never sold: an asset appears there because it passes the counting rule, and it ranks by its market data. Listing applications are free. Other directories the site publishes, such as exchanges, wallets and services, may carry paid placements; any such row is labelled on the row itself. Where a link earns a referral, it changes nothing about whether or where a venue appears. A listing describes what a project is; it is not an endorsement.
The data in the public API is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, commercial use included. Credit it as Data by CoinSpectrum — https://coin-spectrum.com, or with a link in a data-source line. The API needs no key. Its files are static and cached; automated traffic heavy enough to strain the server may be slowed or blocked by the server's firewall. Paid API tiers are planned but not open, and no payment is taken.
Articles may be quoted with a link to the page quoted. Republishing a whole article needs permission, asked on X or Telegram.
Accounts are optional and free. They sync a portfolio and preferences; they are not wallets and hold no funds. A seed phrase that guards real savings should never be used to sign in. The reader is responsible for keeping their seed phrase and any recovery passphrase: the server cannot read an account record and cannot recover one without them. An account can be deleted at any time from the account panel (see Privacy).
Comments are public Nostr posts that their authors sign and publish to relays run by others. CoinSpectrum does not run those relays and cannot change or delete a comment on them. Each author is responsible for what they post.
Exchanges, wallets, explorers and project sites linked from CoinSpectrum are run by others, under their own terms. A link is not an endorsement, and the reader deals with those services at their own risk.
The site's only channels are listed on the Contact page. Statements from CoinSpectrum can be verified against its signing key. Nobody acting for CoinSpectrum asks for seed phrases, keys, payment or token allocations.
CoinSpectrum is written by Iris Thaumas and published online only, without a company, an office or a registered address, by choice; the reasons are on the About page. These terms can change as the site does. Each change is dated below.
