Questions

Has Ledger been hacked?

Yes. In 2023: A poisoned version of the Connect Kit library that dapps load, published from a phished former employee's account, drained wallets that connected through it. Losses: ~$0.6M; Repayment pledged. In 2026: Devices sold through the reseller CryptoBilis carried an added implant that read the seed phrase off the screen and sent it out over a mobile network. Ledger has not said where in the distribution chain the devices were opened. Losses: up to $93M (on-chain researchers; Ledger: "limited"); None announced; under investigation.

Which coins does Ledger support?

Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, XRP, Cardano, Solana, Monero, TRON, Polkadot, Cosmos Hub, Stellar, Algorand and Zcash and 7 more, plus tokens on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet, Base, Avalanche and Solana and other networks.

Is Ledger open source?

No public source repository is listed for Ledger; the directory marks it closed source.

Does Ledger support multisig?

Yes. Ledger can hold one key of a multi-signature wallet, where several keys on separate devices are needed to move funds — the setup that survives any single wallet failing.

Is Ledger custodial?

No. Ledger is self-custody: the user holds the keys, and nobody else can move the funds.

The wallets directory compares every wallet by type, custody and the coins it holds. A wallet's place there is not for sale.
