BFT is not a family but a way for blocks to become final: a set of validators votes in rounds, and a block is final once more than two thirds of them, counted by number or by stake, have signed it. There are no forks to wait out, and if more than a third stop, the chain halts instead of splitting. It runs inside several families — proof of stake (Cosmos chains on CometBFT, Aptos, Sui, Ethereum's Casper FFG), proof of authority (IBFT, QBFT) and the federated ledgers — and each chain listed here is filed in the family that makes its blocks.
